I remember thinking of all the fun things to report back from our long weekend in Amsterdam 3 weeks ago, but as my Grandma passed I hardly had the motivation or imagination to write an interesting post about all the fun we had. We did have fun, and now I can tell you alll about it!
Our long weekend started off with a sleep over, a ridiculously early wake up call and an extremely intelligent taxi driver yarning away at 3am... snore
We arrived in Amsterdam after 45minutes on the plane... Closer than Auckland to Wellington and in a whole new country (the mind boggles)
It is the cutest place ever, with the trams, the rivers and all the bikes!
We were staying in a hostel (my first ever!) and it was an awesome experience, of course we arrived and decided to wander around, and then found a pub.
Safe to say 4 hours later we were tipsy and thought it would be a brilliant idea to go to a live sex show.. that was an experience- one I would rather forget.
We had three awesome days where we wandered around looking at nothing in particular. We had so many plans to see so much and experience so much, but all we really did was walk around in the the snow, looking in the stores, smoking weed, drinking beer, going out for all you can eat ribs, danced in clubs, and ate pancakes for breakfast.
We went to the the red light district, went to the sex museum, went to an awesome bar with taps on the tables, we caught up with family friends, and almost missed our flight.
I have never run so fast and stressed so much, Ben and I made it with not 30 seconds to spare, the girls of course made it with a few more than we, as I read the gate incorrectly and ran us to the other side of the airport and then had to run back, and with Ben's poor sore legs!
Over all it was an amazing weekend, and I can't wait to return!!
Next stop is Greece in July- which is all very exciting we have a 7 day yacht cruise and then Ben and I have 2 nights to chill out, before having to head back to work.
We have moved house too into a flat with friends, with people we know, and like!! Finally somewhere we can call home and settle down for a year.
Bring on SUMMER!
