Thank goodness I checked.

All I can say is thank god I checked my contract last night, after Ben did the deed and resigned from work- with myself planning to do it in 2 weeks I got excited, so I checked my contract and hello there written in black ink were the words “4 weeks notice”

So this morning I too walked into my bosses office, shaking with nerves and told him I was handing in my notice and my last day would be the 31st . and what did he do? he smiled said oh yea cool- and that was that. All those nerves for nothing.

Poor little Ben didn’t have the same luck- this morning his GM was not a happy camper. But as this chapter closes a new and much more exciting one begins.

Now to focus on getting our room rented and selling off all of our belongings.

Countdown as it stands:
22 days left in this horrid office
31 days until we will be in Auckland
66 days until we will be in London

Now to celebrate with a BYO at our fave Thai restaurant because those visits are numbered!

Nerves!!!

As I type this post, Ben is resigning!!

He is in with his manager handing in his notice- his official one month. That means he will be finishing up work on the 31st of August. Which means I will be finishing on the 31st of August.

Here's me thinking I have to deal with 6 weeks more of work before we go, when reality is its actually only 23 days left. Geez that's scary!

I can not wait until the thing I hate the most is over- and the things I love (family and friends) is here.

So we have 31 days to rent out our room- sell all our stuff and get ready to depart windy ol' Wellington. CAN.NOT.WAIT!!!

We will then have another 31 days to be in Auckland, hanging out with friends and family before we go. All i need to do now is find some temp work so I can have a bit of spending money- life is never ending really, but I love it!!

Love you Ben- hope its going well! Eeeek! My turn in 2 weeks!!

Struggle Street

As the date is nearing I am beginning to struggle so much with the waiting.
The visa is organized, it just needs sending away. The savings account is looking nicer by the week.
And the excitement levels are getting higher and higher, just one thing keeps bringing me down and doing in my little head.
WORK- I hate it, I hate the actual work, I hate the micro-managing, I hate the getting up early in the dark and freezing cold, I hate the people (hate is a strong word, too strong for some but fitting for others)
We are going up to Auckland early September- we were going to wait until half way through September but Ben can get work up there and I can help out and work where I can, we just cant wait to get out of Wellington and at the earliest moment we can, we will.  I vote September 1st but we will have to wait and see.
Its only 71 days until we fly out, 71 days until I get to blog about the experiences we will be having, loving, soaking up and I just cant wait!
It’s only 2 weeks until we resign so only a max of 6 weeks of work left and boy oh boy that excites me! But 6 weeks is such a long time to deal with something you hate.
So I will be taking my mind off it by getting excited about my birthday which is only 15 days away.  I’ll be 24- cya later early 20s and hello mid- 20s. Can’t wait for my sweet sweet present from my sweet sweet boyfriend.
I will also continue to sell everything I own that I wont be taking with me on Trade Me, to boost our savings even more- that part sure is fun, it means I get to do less of that yucky stuff they call work.

3 Months

Yesterday was a big day. It was 3 months exactly until we fly out.
Which means I can now apply for my visa. Which also made me realise a few other things.

1-      My passport is expired and I need that to do it.
2-      I haven’t booked into do the biometric test.
3-      I haven’t been to the bank to get a maintenance letter.
4-      I haven’t filled out/ even downloaded the application forms.

All of which I need to have to get the ball rolling. Nice one on the organisation front.

So with me today is my completed passport application, at lunch I will get the referee bit signed and send it away. That takes 10 days to come back to me so that gives me enough time to book the test- fill out the application and sell heeeaps of my stuff so I have enough for the maintenance letter as I do not have 1800 pounds in the bank. whoops!

Slightly stressed an a little confused by the whole visa process but ill get there. Everything will be sorted and we will be back in Auckland in no time.

Auckland is one part I am extremely excited about. I can not wait to quit work (another part extremely exciting) and come up to stay for 2 weeks before flying out.
I want to go on coffee dates and nights out with friends, hang out with my nieces and nephews and my sisters, spend time with my mum, my dad, Ben’s parents and all the people we care about before disappearing for a few years.

I can’t wait until were in Croatia soaking up the sun- that’s were we will be off to after dumping our belongings and sleeping off the jet lag. Were going to warm our bones after a horrible Wellington winter, and to give us a break before entering an even worse London winter- though I am sure the London winter will be much easier to deal with given the location!

Three months till I get to blog more regularly because I actually have things to tell you about. Love that!! So so close.
75 days till I will be off work and on my way to AKay!
